The Origins of Going To A Show

If you’re reading this, hopefully it means you have some interest in the world of arts and entertainment, be that music, movies, television, etc.

My name’s Amanda, and I’ve been writing articles in that arena for years but have now finally decided to start what I would like to call a more “professional” type of blog.

I recently got my journalism degree and I am trying to find a full-time job and freelance articles here and there. For the time being, I need a creative outlet and am hoping that this blog fills a small chunk of that black hole within me growing larger by the day (not to sound dramatic or anything).

Going To A Show will be reviewing new music, movies and concerts I sink my money into, among more in-depth pieces about particular bodies of an artist’s or pop culture era’s work.

I will find any excuse to talk about the things I’m most passionate about.

I hope people can feel connected by these articles and rediscover their love for a particular piece of media, or find something new along the way.

Ever since seeing Almost Famous back in middle school, a part of me has always wanted to become a young Cameron Crowe, the fever dream of any hopeful music journalist, as pathetic as it all sounds. Hopefully, Going To A Show brings that lofty vision a little closer to reality.
